O'Grady grew up in the city of Wheaton, Illinois and graduated from Wheaton North High School in 1981. She is the child of Jan O'Grady (a financial planner) and Jim O'Grady. Her parents raised her in Wheaton (Illinois) where she was a graduate of North High School of Wheaton. Before making the move to Los Angeles, she appeared in a variety of commercials.
